Cisolok hot spring
Cisolok hot spring
Blow thy steam off spring: Cisolok hot spring
Ever wondered how a geyser works? You need not head to Iceland to find
out. Unlike the other springs around Bandung and Garut, Cisolok hot spring is
probably the only one in Bandung that’s situated near a beach, along the
Pelabuhan Ratu coast. What draws folks to this place is none other than the
source of the spring – a geyser which ejects columns of hot water that people
have found the use for. Witness the geyser in action as it sprouts up heated
water so high you’d be completely soaked. Be warned though, the water sprouting
from the geyser can go up to a mighty 80 degrees Celsius and can cause mild
burns if caution is not exercised.

Curug Tilu: Grand Canyon in Sukasari
Curug Tilu: Grand Canyon in Sukasari
The region offers hidden natural attractions that remain untouched.
Sukasari, the land of which is mostly covered in forest, turns out to have its
own “Grand Canyon.”
Thanks to the development of smooth road access to the Sukasari
district, the more-than-50-year isolated region has now become open.
The pulse of local residents can now be strongly felt and even people
from outside Sukasari have started to come to the region.
The region offers hidden natural attractions that remain untouched.
Sukasari, the land of which is mostly covered in forest, turns out to have its
own “Grand Canyon.”
The “Grand Canyon” is called Curug Tilu and it is situated in Ciririp
village, Sukasari district, Purwakarta regency.
To reach the destination, visitors can take advantage of either the
Cikao Bandung Jatiluhur road or the Maniis–Sukasari road. Cikao Bandung
Jatiluhur connects directly to a segment of the smooth Sukasari road. It takes
about 40 minutes for visitors to reach Ciririp village.
The Maniis–Sukasari route is not recommended yet as the road remains
under construction by the local administration.
To reach the Curug Tilu area, visitors must take a small
1-kilimoter-long road from the main road.
Prior to reaching Curug Tilu, visitors will first be greeted by a
traditional bamboo grotto with palm fiber as its roof. The grotto is known as
Pos KOMP@S (Komunitas Pecinta Alam Sukasari – Sukasari Nature Lover Community).
That is the place where a community led by Muhammad Arifin, 32, has
been working to develop eco-tourism since 2013.
“We see the open road access conducted by [incumbent Purwakarta
regent] Dedi as an opportunity. Why not? The nature that has remained intact
has tourism potential that we can introduce to the public at large and we have
to take care of it,” said Arif during a discussion at the Purwakarta
Communication and Informatics office.
Arif explained that facilities for visitors to enjoy when visiting the
Curug Tilu homestay were already available. The homestay, located on the edge
of a curug (waterfall), is complete with a hammock and swimming pool.
The facility package, priced at Rp 50,000, includes nasi liwet (rice
cooked in coconut milk, chicken broth and spices)
“Actually, we have yet to set the price of nasi liwet. The
portion of the rice is enough for five persons. So you do not have to cook it
yourself,” he explained.
Visitors will be surrounded by the beautiful sight of a green natural
panorama and stony mountain contour. The water appears green, precisely like
the “Green Canyon” in Pangandaran district, West Java.
Arif acknowledged that he has been relying on young people in Ciririp
village to manage the tourist activities. KOMP@S, which he leads, plans to
further develop local tourism by offering river tubing and body rafting.
“Frankly speaking, what we have done is far from optimal because our
members are still limited to young village people. We want it to be better. But
thank God, we see between 20 and 30 visitors daily in [Curug Tilu]. They come
from Jakarta, Karawang and Purwakarta,” he said.
The local youth have promoted the area through their social media
accounts to attract more visitors.

Wonderful Jatigede Festival
Wonderful Jatigede Festival
'Wonderful Jatigede Festival' Aims to Attract More Tourists to
Sumedang
Dirt bike club Barudak Trail Adventure Sumedang, or Batras, and arts
communities in Sumedang, West Java, will hold the Wonderful Jatigede Festival
on April 15-16 to promote tourism at the Jatigede Reservoir.
The Jatigede Reservoir in the eastern part of Sumedang is the second
largest dam in Indonesia after Jatiluhur in Purwakarta, also in West Java.
Aside from providing water and electricity to most of West Java, the
Jatigede Reservoir — which was opened in August 2015 — will also
be developed into a tourist attraction.
The deputy minister for marketing at the Tourism Ministry, Esthy Reko
Astuti, said the Wonderful Jatigede Festival will introduce ecotourism to the
Sumedang public, including a dirt bike championship.
“We want to develop tourism and also the creative economy scene in
Sumedang. Tourism Minister Arief Yahya will attend the event next week,” Esthy
said.
Around seven thousand local and international visitors are expected at
the festival to watch and take part in a creative economy exhibition, Sundanese
art performances, a photography competition, a dirt bike contest and a tree
planting ceremony.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said the government will develop tourism
in and around the Jatigede Reservoir through a special local tourism authority.
“We will build a golf course, dirt bike tracks, hotels, restaurants,
fishing ponds, a water park and a museum around the Jatigede Reservoir. Surian Island
on the south side of the dam will have a hotel and a grilled fish restaurant,”
he added.
According to statistics provided by the Tourism Ministry, 2,388
international visitors visited Sumedang in 2014, bringing in Rp 37 billion
($57,000) to the local economy. The following year, the area attracted 2,685
international visitors, bringing in Rp 44 billion ($68,000).
Local tourists still make up the majority of visitors to Sumedang with
141,261 people spending more than Rp 141 billion ($22,000) in 2014, and 169,514
people spending more than Rp 169 billion ($27,000) in 2015.

Ciptagelar Village, Sukabumi
Ciptagelar Village, Sukabumi
The Wisdom of Traditional Community of Ciptagelar Village, West Java
The Ciptagelar Village is famous for its cultural thanks giving
rituals of Seren Taun, a yearly post- harvest ceremony, usually done in August,
to express their gratitude towards the successful of their harvest.
The Seren Taun rituals have made Ciptagelar as one of the ‘must see
and visit’ cultural events and most appealing natural ecosystem in West Java.
It’s not just that. As one of the eight traditional villages in West Java,
Ciptagelar has its own magnetism – the subsistence and the wisdom.
As one of the Kasepuhan in Banten Kidul, located at 1200 m above the
sea level, administratively Kampung Ciptagelar is under the Cisolok
sub-district, Sukabumi Regency. However, what is said as traditional community
of Banten Kidul, it encompasses of a substantial area from Sukabumi and Bogor
to Pandeglang, West Java. Kasepuhan itself refers to a way of living based on
ancestral traditions to the local community who lives according to these
traditions.
The physical development of Ciptagelar is a bit controversy as it is
part of the Halimun National Park conservation. For instance, the road/pathway
from Ciptarasa to Ciptagelar constructed by the internal community were criticized
by the externals and were accused as destroying the forest.
Nevertheless, the Ciptagelar community will not chop the trees and
clear the forest carelessly, only as needed. They have a natural wisdom to
sustain the environment.
Kampung Ciptagelar was proclaimed as the first village connected to
the internet through the USO (Universal Service Obligation) program, a
government program to provide rural telecommunication services with the
objectives of reducing the isolation of rural regions, overcoming the digital
gap, achieving more equitable development, and maintaining the integrity of the
Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung
Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung
One Of The Most Prestigious University In Indonesia
Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) or Bandung Insitute of Technology or Institute of technology Bandung, was founded on March 2, 1959. The present ITB main campus is the site of earlier engineering schools in Indonesia. Although these institutions of higher learning had their own individual characteristics and missions, they left influence on developments leading to the establishment of ITB. In 1920, Technische Hogeschool (TH) was established in Bandung, which for a short time, in the middle forties, became Kogyo Daigaku. Not long after the birth of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945, the campus housed the Technical Faculty (including a Fine Arts Department) of Universitas Indonesia, with the head office in Jakarta. In the early fifties, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, also part of Universitas Indonesia, was established on the campus.
In 1959, the present lnstitut Teknologi Bandung was founded by the Indonesian government as an institution of higher learning of science, technology, and fine arts, with a mission of education, research, and service to the community. ITB was considered the top choice among Indonesia’s high school students in 2006 and has been credited as one of the most “prestigious” universities in Indonesia, together with University of Indonesia and Gadjah Mada University. Sukarno, the first president of the Republic of Indonesia, earned his engineering degree in civil engineering from ITB. The university cultivates professional and social activities by supporting its students’ unions, the student government councils that exist in every department. Each students’ union has its own distinctly designed jacket that, among other traditions, serves as part of its member identity. There are also a number of student activity units/clubs supporting ITB student interests in rounding out their educational experience. It is not uncommon that the students and alumni are identified by the clubs to which they belong (or used to belong) at ITB, in addition to their class year and major.
Bandung Institute of Technology complex area is included in the heritage area in Bandung because there are West Hall and East Hall which is Dutch architect works named Maclaind Pond. In addition there are many more buildings in the campus, designed by famous architects include Ir. Soekarno. Although the function is used as the lectures, but public can enter the campus area to just take pictures of the building and its atmosphere as well as a walk around in the campus area. In addition, there is a science and technology demonstration center in the area of Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga).
