Located at the altitude of 768m and surrounded by the lush and beautiful Parahyangan mountains makes the climate mild and pleasant. The city has been well known for its universities, aclothing and a great place for gastronomic adventure. Nowadays, Bandung has become a very popular weekend escape for Jakartans, who would crowd the city on weekends and national holidays.

Bandung Tuan Rumah Pameran Filateli Dunia 2017

60 negara dan 40 juri dunia dari berbagai dunia akan hadir pada Pameran Filateli Dunia 2017 (World Stamp Exhibition) 2017

Kota Bandung akan menjadi tuan rumah Pameran Filateli Dunia pada Agustus 2017 dan sebagai “pemanasan” menuju ajang tersebut Perkumpulan Filateli Indonesia (PFI), PT POS serta Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika menggelar Pameran Nasional Filateli Bandung 2017 dari tanggal 10-14 Mei di Festival Citylink.

“Panfila Bandung 2017 ini bisa dikatakan sebagai ajang pemanasan atau road show menuju pameran filateli dunia pada Agustus mendatang di TSM (Trans Studio Mal),” kata Ketua Umum PP Perkumpulan Filateli Indonesia Soeyono, di Bandung, Rabu.

Ia menuturkan ada sekitar 90 frame perangko dari 30 peserta yang ditampilkan dalam Panfila Bandung 2017 dari filatelis di berbagai daerah seperti Bandung, DKI Jakarta, Jawa Timur, Jawa Tengah hingga Bali.

“Upaya mewujudkan Panfila ini bukan tanpa halangan, banyak halangan dan hambatan yang mempengaruhi pelaksanaan tapi syukur alhamdulillah hari ini bisa kita wujudkan di Bandung ini sampe tanggal 14 Mei,” kata Soeyono.

Soeyono berharap Panfila Bandung 2017 bisa lebih mempopulerkan kembali filateli di kalangan anak muda Indonesia. “Kami ingin filateli di kalangan anak muda bisa lebih populer lagi karena sekarang di kalangan muda filateli hampir menjadi hobi yang punah,” kata dia.

Akan tetapi, dirinya yakin hobi mengoleksi dan merangkai perangko tidak akan punah karena masih ada sejumlah pihak yang mendukung penuh filateli termsuk organisasi dunia.

Lebih lanjut ia mengatakan Pameran Filateli Dunia 2017 di Bandung, akan mengusung tema “Jembatan Menuju Dunia yang Damai Melalui Perangko” dan memiliki tujuan meningkatkan persahabatan antara filatelis dunia sebagai salah satu andil untuk menciptakan perdamaian dunia dan memajukan perfilatelian dalam segala aspek.

“Selain itu, tujuan dari Pameran Filateli Dunia 2017 nanti sekaligus memperingati HUT Proklamasi RI dan HUT Jawa Barat serta HUT Kota Bandung,” kata dia.

Ada 60 negara dan 40 juri dunia dari berbagai dunia akan hadir pada Pameran Filateli Dunia 2017 (World Stamp Exhibition) 2017, di Bandung pada Agustus mendatang.

“Nanti itu akan dua ribu frame yang ditampilkan dan mempertandingkan sembilan kelas dari berbagai tema,” kata dia.

When is Independence Day in Indonesia?
Always celebrated on August 17, this is Indonesia's national day and marks Indonesia's declaration of independence from the Netherlands in 1945.

History of Independence Day in Indonesia
Indonesia had been a Dutch colony for over 300 years when a group of revolutionaries declared independence on August 17, 1945. It took Indonesians four years of diplomacy and armed struggle before their independence was formally granted by Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. Despite the granting of independence in 1945, it wasn't until 2005, that the Netherlands declared that they had decided to accept the date of 17 August 1945 as the date of Indonesia’s independence. Indonesia is an archipelago of over 17,000 islands. It is the world's fourth most populous country.

How is Independence day in Indonesia celebrated?
This national holiday is celebrated throughout Indonesia with parades, community gatherings, athletic events involving adults and children such as sack races, and a multitude of cultural and performing arts festivals. Traditions also include eating Indonesian crackers (known as 'krupuk') or fruit hanging on a string and climbing a pinang tree to reach for a prize.

National Flag of Indonesia
The national flag of Indonesia is called 'Sang Saka Merah-Putih' (the sacred red and white) and was unveiled on August 17, 1945. The design is derived from the banner of Majapahit Empire in East Java which ruled in the region before the arrival of the Dutch. The flag consists two equal horizontal stripes; the top red and the bottom white. The red represents courage and the white is purity.
