Bandung Airport closed 2 days for 60th Asian African Conference Commemoration



The Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, capital city of West Java Province will be closed for 2 days from 23rd April 2015 at 16:00 hrs. West Indonesia Time to 25th April 2015 at 00:00 hrs West Indonesia Time in connection with the pinnacle of the 60th Commemoration of the Asian African Conference which will take place in Bandung on 24th April 2015.

Bandung airport will be temporarily closed to all commercial aircraft to allow arrival and departure of planes of the many heads of state of countries participating in the event.

“On 25th April 2015 at 00:00, all flights will resume as per normal” said the General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II Husein Sastranegara Airport Branch, Yayan Hendriyani. According to Yayan, PT Angkasa Pura, as managing authority of the airport had earlier offered two options to commercial airlines serving regular routes to Bandung in connection with the special operations required for the occasion: delay or close.

“Country leaders will certainly arrive in their own planes; therefore, air traffic to Bandung will be extremely busy” added Yayan. Furthermore, Yayan added that planes parked on the airport tarmac will be have to be moved to make way for the parking of aircrafts of heads of state.
