Bogor Prepares to Host Asia-Pacific Golf Tourism Tournament

Golf tourism tournament in the Asia-Pacific was aimed at making Bogor a golf destination of the world. The committee will invite 1.5 thousand participants from the country and abroad.

The Tourism Promotion Board of Bogor District, West Java Province, is preparing to organize an event that combines travel and golf in the Asia-Pacific region.

“This event combines golf and Bogor’s natural and cultural potentials,” Zainal Saprudin, chairman of the board, stated here on Thursday.
Zainal remarked that the event was scheduled to be launched by Nurhayanti, the district’s regent, to coincide with the 34th anniversary of Bogor on June 3, 2016.

“Once launched on June 3, the dissemination of information regarding the event will be intensified. The event will be held in the first week of September 2016,” he affirmed.

According to Zainal, this golf tourism tournament in the Asia-Pacific was aimed at making Bogor a golf destination of the world. The committee will invite 1.5 thousand participants from the country and abroad.

“The foreign participants, in addition to taking part in the golf tournament, can also enjoy the natural and cultural attractions of Bogor,” Zainal pointed out.

He explained that Bogor had 11 international-standard golf courses. In addition, the district had numerous tourist destinations. If sports and tourism are combined, it would be an interesting event.
“It is such multi-effect kind of opportunities that we are aiming to grab,” he explained.
Zainal added that the increase in the number of tourists with special interest in golf had made Bogor a major competitor of China.

He noted that tourists with special interest, especially from Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries, earlier preferred China as their primary destination.

However, the tourists had now started coming to Bogor.

The data reveals that no more than some one thousand tourists with special interest in golf had visited Bogor per month.

“However, after the Tourism Promotion Board was established, the number of golf travelers now visiting Bogor had reached one thousand to 1.2 thousand per month,” he added.
